Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable primarily as provider, coordinator, leader and advocate of quality patient-centered care. The RN applies the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving to foster a therapeutic relationship, thereby, maximizing the patient’s potential for improved health, independence, or a peaceful death. The RN utilizes assessment, problem identification, learning potential, coaching, teaching and education skills to assist patients to manage actual and/or potential health problems arising from responses to their health-illness experience. The RN plays a key role in support of an integrated and holistic approach to patient care and relates nursing practice to health maintenance and health promotion.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing required.
- Current registration (or eligibility) with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia is required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years recent (within the last five years) and consistent experience in medical/surgical and/or critical care nursing required.
- Post diploma/degree certification and/or study and experience in critical care preferred.
- Demonstrated involvement with continuing education is an asset.
- Previous work attendance may be considered.

Salary Classification: RN2
