Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals, families, groups, communities and populations across the life span.The RN is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of nursing care. The RN provides clinical leadership particularly in complex or unpredictable patient/client care settings. The RN has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide competent, evidenced based nursing practice. The RN is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the plan of care to achieve patient/client outcomes.The RN supports the development of students and colleagues through acting as a preceptor and providing ongoing mentorship.The RN contributes to the efficient and effective functioning of the unit, coordination of patient care and staffing. The RN accepts responsibility for maintaining and continually enhancing competencies through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs, research and continuous quality activities. The RN practices according to the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses, the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia Standards of Nursing Practice, specialty standards as applicable and the policies and procedures of the Capital District Health Authority.
Qualifications:
*Graduate of a accredited school of nursing and be eligible for registration in Nova Scotia
*Critical Care experience required
*Previous medical/surgical/neuro critical care nursing experience preferred
*Completion of Critical Care nursing course
*Neurosurgery and trauma experience is an asset
*Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills
*Experience caring for cardiac patients an asset
*BCLS and ACLS certification
Hours of Work:
* Permanent Part-time (.5) position; 37.5 hours bi-weekly
Salary: Registered Nurse
$27.672 - $32.4675 Hourly
($33.6039 hourly with 25 years RN experience)
