Essential Qualifications – Qualifications in bold must be verified on internal application forms
- Member of the New Brunswick Nurses Association (NBNA).
- Bachelor in nursing.
- At least three (3) years nursing experience in a hospital setting. and At least two (2) years experience in Public Health over the last five (5) years.
- Must be bilingual in accordance with South-East Regional Health Authority policy, ie. ability to speak and write English and ability to speak and write French.
- Previous experience as a facilitator with adults and adolescents
- Practical experience in public health prevention and promotion and practical knowledge of epidemiology principles and communicable diseases.
- Computer skills and knowledge of the Client Service Delivery System (CSDC) and of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated abilities as a teacher and group facilitator for adults and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to function in an ever changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a group.
- Demonstrated organizational, work management and self-directed skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with other health care professionals and community agencies or services.
- Manifested interest in gaining further knowledge in public health.
- Must have access to a vehicle, have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Mentally and physically able to perform assigned duties.
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
- All mandatory certifications must be up to date including BLS.

Basic Duties
Under the direction of the Public Health Program manager, the Public Health Nurse must work in collaboration with the other members of the multidisciplinary team in order to promote and protect the health of the population. The incumbent must offer a full range of health prevention and promotion services (primary, secondary and tertiary services) on an individual or group basis as well as consultation services to various community agencies and services, such as: Early Childhood Initiatives, School Health, Immunization Program, Child Protection Services, Health Education and Promotion, Sexual Health and Communicable Diseases. The incumbent will be required to travel across the region and the province. The incumbent will be assigned to one or several of the aforementioned programs and will also need to accomplish various other related tasks, according to the needs of the department.
