Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Position Scope:  Accountable to the Nurse Manager of the Medical, Transitional Care and Alternate Level of Care Units to provide safe, competent patient care within the recognized scope of practice of the LPN, utilizing the nursing process and in accordance with the Mission, Standards, Policies and Procedures of AVDHA.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

• LPN currently licensed in the province of N.S.;
• Current CPR certification (annual re-certification required)
• Candidates will have successfully completed Pharmacology through the LPN Core Program or through a post graduate course approved by the Practical Nurses Licensing Board.
• Recent experience administering medications is required.
• Strong organizational skills
• Demonstrated competencies in the team approach to care, with the philosophy of maximizing patients self care abilities.
• Demonstrated competencies in providing safe care for patients, within the practice of least restraint.
• Successful completion of (or commitment to complete within one year) the LPN Physical Assessment Course.
• Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
• Demonstrated good attendance in current and past employment.
• Exemplary work history as demonstrated in current and past employment.
• Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position.
• Available to work all shifts
• Willingness to work on all inpatient units.
