Licensed Practical Nurses

Position Scope:  Accountable to the Nurse Manager of the Medical Unit to provide safe, competent patient care within the recognized scope of practice of the LPN, utilizing the nursing process and in accordance with the Mission, Standards, Policies and Procedures of the AVDHA.

Qualifications:

• LPN currently licensed in the province of N.S.
• Current BCLS certification (annual re-certification required)
• Recent (within last five years) experience in the care of acutely ill medical/surgical patients.
• Demonstrated competencies in working with a team approach to care, with the philosophy of maximizing patients self care abilities.
• Demonstrated competencies in providing safe care for patients, within the practice of least restraint.
• Successful completion of recognized physical assessment course.
• Candidates will have successfully completed Pharmacology through the LPN Core Program or through a post graduate course approved by the Practical Nurses Licensing Board.
• Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
• Strong organizational skills
• Recent experience administering medications is required.
• Demonstrated good attendance in current and past employment.
• Exemplary work history as demonstrated in current and past employment.
• Available to work all shifts
• Willingness to work on other inpatient units if required

As per current CUPE collective agreement.
Position to commence as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
