Responsibilities:
This position is located at the Cape Breton Correctional Facility Health Unit.
Offender Health Services is responsible for the coordination and delivery of Primary health care to the adult offender population located at the Cape Breton Correctional Center. The Health Unit staff are responsible, in collaboration with other clinicians, for the safe & effective care of those incarcerated. Under the direction of the Program Manager for Offender Health Services, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for the promotion of Health and Wellness of the offender population located at the Cape Breton Correctional Center. The RN will triage, treat and evaluate a variety of health care needs for these clients in collaboration with other health professionals. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for medication administration, client education and participation in client meetings related to programming options. Care is delivered within the parameters of a secure Corrections environment and requires good working relationships with Justice personnel.
Qualifications:
* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
* Current registration with CRNNS
* 3 years medical nursing experience preferred
* Basic Cardiac Life Support
* Previous psychiatric nursing experience is a definite asset
* Previous Corrections experience is a definite asset
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The successful candidate must pass the appropriate background checks.
Hours of Work:

Salary: Staff Nurse:
$ 27.6721- $32.4675 hourly
