Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Registered Nurse will provide Psychiatric Nursing Services to the Mentally Ill Offender Unit. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for the biopsychosocial assessment of clients within the East Coast Forensic Hospital programs. The Registered Nurse will also work collaboratively with a variety of clinicians to assist the client through the treatment and discharge process. Emphasis will be placed on assessments, treatment interventions, health promotion activities and discharge planning. The Registered Nurse will promote joint educational activities by collaborating with the Clinical Nurse Specialist. The RN will maintain contact with Corrections personnel within the confines of client confidentiality.
Qualifications: *Graduate of an approved School of Nursing *Registered with the CRNNS *Baccalaureate degree preferred *Demonstrated ability in conducting biopsychosocial assessments *Strong knowledge of Mental Health treatment practices *Critical thinking skills with an ability to resolve or stabilize crisis *Self directed in his/her nursing practice and professional development *Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a capacity for coping with challenging clinical situations, an openness for change, and the ability to effectively contribute as a member of the team *Ability to delegate nursing tasks effectively to other members of the team.
The successful candidate must pass the appropriate background checks.
Hours of Work: * Long Assignment Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly * Shift work * Beginning June 08, 2008 until July 05, 2009
Salary: Staff Nurse: $27.6721 - $32.4675 hourly
