Communications Manager

For more than 80 years, Nova Scotia Power Inc. (NSPI) has been the main electricity provider for Nova Scotians. Supplying 95% of the electrical generation, transmission and distribution in the province, NSPI provides safe, dependable sources of energy to its 482,000 customers. We are making strides in reducing emissions and adding renewable energy sources as well as focusing on new technologies to enhance customer service and reliability. As the principal operating subsidiary of Emera, NSPI has 1,700 employees, $3.5 billion in assets and a fleet that includes thermal, tidal and hydro plants as well as combustion and wind turbines.

The Communications Manager reports to the General Manager, Communications and holds the critical role of the primary spokesperson for the corporation. As the steward of NSPI's reputation, you will have a complex, good news story to tell to Nova Scotians and many stakeholder groups who count on the corporation for responsiveness and responsibility. You will lead the team's external communications function, including issue and crisis management, public relations, and media relations initiatives, as well as providing public relations counsel to the senior leadership team.
