Our Category Manager has a direct impact on merchandising and product offering. S/he establishes, maintains and develops partnerships with our vendors and s/he contributes to our merchandising efforts by negotiating and building programs, plan-o-grams and promotions. S/he is responsible for determining margins and other financial indicators of various categories.

Responsibilities:

S/he will:

• Negotiate with vendors to get the best value on merchandise for given categories
• Follow-up on supply and commercialization activities for given categories
• Plan product promotions
• Manage categories to optimize profitability
• Identify and develop opportunities for new products
• Prepare, participate and collaborate to budget process for the Commercialization team
• Document, report and present category analysis and make appropriate recommendations

Qualifications:

• Two to three years experience in a similar position, within retail or food industry
• A background in a working food service environment is considered an asset
• An understanding of food and labour costs in a foodservice environment is considered an asset
• An understanding of commodity food products is considered a great asset
• Proficiency with Word, Excel and other office software
• Strong communication skills in English, French an asset
