Security Guard
(Temporary - "As Needed - When Needed")
To establish an eligibility list for temporary employment on an "as needed - when needed" basis for shift relief and support purposes, in Avalon (Works) Region, St. John's/Mount Pearl.
Duties:
On an "as needed - when needed" basis for shift relief and support purposes, provides security services in the safeguarding of government buildings, facilities, equipment and property against damage or loss from theft, fire, vandalism, or other causes. Work may involve the patrol of assigned areas, in varying weather conditions, both by foot and vehicle; enforcement of traffic regulations, which may involve the issuance of traffic tickets; enforces and ensures building admittance policy; prepares written reports; incidental custodial duties; other related duties. Successful applicants will participate in a rotating 24/7 shift schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications:
Availability - candidates must be available "as needed - when needed", often with short notice. Experience in security work at a large public facility. Completion of high school supplemented by graduation from a certified Security Guard course; first aid certification; the ability to exercise initiative and good judgement, in sometimes sensitive circumstances; good communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to work as part of a team, and with minimum supervision. Candidates will be required to submit current certificate(s) of conduct; possession of a class 05 drivers licence and a current drivers abstract. Equivalencies may be considered.
Salary: $13.68 to $14.64 per hour (MS - 15)
