The Legal Services Division of the Department of Justice is the government’s law office, is accountable for providing legal services on a broad range of matters to the Government and many of its boards, agencies and commissions, (excluding prosecutions) to the Province of Nova Scotia.  Legal Services is seeking a solicitor for a two (2) year term position.

Duties:
As a member of a team, the solicitor  is  responsible for the effective and efficient provision of solicitor services to various government departments, agencies, boards and commissions.  As a Crown lawyer, the lawyer will be expected to represent the Province and provide services relating to Crown law, including familiarity with provincial legislation and regulations.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be a practicing member in good standing with the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society  with  one (1) or more years of experience. Candidates must be creative, motivated to excel and able to effectively  deal with stressful situations. Must have an aptitude for research, proven analytical skills, effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, the ability to function with  minimum supervision in a team environment, and be computer literate.  Demonstrated solicitor skills, experience and competence in a solicitor’s practice and sensitivity to the role and responsibilities of government, are prerequisites.
