The Office of the Attorney General is seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide senior level secretarial and administrative services for lawyers in the Legal Services Branch, which provides civil and constitutional legal advice and representation to all provincial government Departments and related Agencies.  Work is done under the supervision of a lawyer, and will include the preparation of pleadings in accordance with the Rules of Court; the preparation of commercial documentation; the preparation of memoranda to Administrative Boards and Tribunals; briefs of law submitted to all superior Courts in the Province; the preparation of legal opinions and correspondence, making appointments, arranging meetings and examinations for discovery; travel arrangements; conducting various searches on QuickLaw and other Branch computer programs, as well as maintaining a diarized file system.  The successful candidate must be able to work with a variety of computer programs and perform complex secretarial functions in an exact manner, with a minimum of supervision as well as produce documents from a Dictaphone.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and have successfully completed one year post-secondary training and 5 years of secretarial experience, of which a minimum of 3 years recent experience must be in a legal environment.  Candidates should also have training or experience in MS Word, MS Outlook and MS Excel, as well as Dictaphone experience.  An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.

Salary: $ 1,383 to $ 1,674 bi-weekly, depending on training and experience.
