IM Analyst

Job Description:

As the IM Analyst you will be responsible for the following duties.

Duties:

  • Leads and/or contributes to the conduct of IM assessments for system applications
  • Demonstrates the value added by Information Management to the business proposition, including the return on investment, performance measures, and the ability to develop a business case.
  • Designs, develops, and implements file classification schemes and record retention and disposition schedules
  • Researches, evaluates, uses and transfers best-known practices of Information Management.
  • At the business process level, models and assesses current state IM processes identifying strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.  Recommends process improvement.  Designs and implements improved IM processes.
  • Defining business requirements in line with industry best practices, client requirements and legislation in place for the jurisdiction.  Elicits IM requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, event lists, business analysis, competitive product analysis, task and workflow analysis, and/or viewpoints for specific projects.
  • Leads IM requirements analysis and verification; ensures requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous and verifiable, and that they conform to standards.
  • Performs information modelling and scenarios.
  • Provides advice in developing and integrating process and information models between business processes to eliminate information and process redundancies.
  • Develops IM policies, standards, and procedures, e.g. for managing various information products like email, documents, web pages, forms, images, etc.
  • Writes clear and persuasive proposals to deliver IM professional services.

Other skills:

The Senior Consultant (Information Management Analyst) will very often be working on projects, and in a team based environment working directly with other contracted resources and/or with client representatives.  As such they must have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience achieving successful outcomes in a project based environment working in a team.

Demonstrated knowledge of IM legislation and best practices, and ideally in a Canadian public sector setting.  Topics could include information classification, security, privacy, access to information, disposition and archiving, etc.

Demonstrated knowledge of IM tools and related best practices, and ideally in a Canadian public sector setting.  The realm of tools is broad and includes any of what is commonly identified in the industry as: Enterprise Content Management, Records Management, Document Management, Web Content Management, Digital Asset Management, Digital Image Management, e-mail archiving, etc.     

Salary:  TBD

Qualifications:

  • 4 - 10 years experience, at least 4 years in consulting environment
  • College / University degree
  • Relevant industry recognized certifications as required  ( ie MLIS, etc)

Contract term till March 31st renewable for 1 year after that
