Our client is seeking a Payroll Assistant for their Bayers Lake location.  This is a contract opportunity for approximately 5 months and a wonderful opportunity to work with one of Nova Scotia's largest employers.

Working within the payroll department and reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, you will assist with the following payroll responsibilities:

• Prepare and process pay statements
• Process Records of Employment
• Audit payroll data for accuracy in accordance with collective agreements, work schedules and standard procedures
• File payroll documents
• Verify paid leaves
• Prepare payroll reports
• Assist employees with payroll inquiries, both written and verbal

As an ideal candidate, you will have completed a business certificate or diploma and gained payroll processing experience for at least one year. Proficiency with ADP payroll service software is absolutely required, while experience working in a unionized environment is an asset. Working independently within the payroll department, you have a strong understanding of payroll processes, the ability to learn quickly and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
