Position Summary: 

Under the supervision of the Director, Echocardiography Laboratory and reporting to the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging Services and consistent with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) scope of practice and Code of Ethics, the Cardiac Sonographer will carry out a range of echocardiographic examinations and procedures in collaboration with a physician specialist (Echocardiographer). Demonstrating a patient-focused philosophy of care, the technologist strives for quality in the work produced, applying their knowledge and acquired skills in Cardiac Sonography to facilitate a safe high quality and optimal outcome for clients.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a recognized Cardiac Sonography training program required.
• Current (or eligibility) ARDMS/CSDMS registration with proof of liability coverage (CSDMS or CAMRT) required.
• A minimum of two years of current work experience in Cardiac Sonography required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Ultrasound/ Echo-Cardiology equipment and operation required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications required; Meditech experience an asset.
• Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills required.
