Essential Qualifications

• Must have completed Grade 12 or successful completion of G.E.D. program with Grade 12 Chemistry & Biology.
• Successful completion Laboratory Assistant's course and certification with CSMLS or successful completion of a similar recognized laboratory assistant course or 1-3 years recent experience as a laboratory assistant.
• Ability to work rotating shifts
• Clerical functions included in job description
• Ability to work in stressful situations and to prioritise work appropriately.
• Satisfactory prior work and attendance records.
• All mandatory certifications must be up to date.

*Position requires manual dexterity, basic knowledge of medical and hospital terminology.  Working with patients requires a pleasant, well-mannered, tactful individual. *

Basic Duties

Responsible for the preanalytical and postanalytical processing of laboratory specimens using established departmental procedures. Clerical duties included in job description. Performance of duties in Phlebotomy and other laboratory duties as assigned.
