Health Records Administrator / Health Information Professional – 2 (HA-2)

Job Summary:
This is specialized work in the area of health records administration. The duties are the following: ensure patient charts are completed and legible; code and abstract medical records with ICD-10-CA and CCI; help physicians and interns by ensuring that patient records are available to them for regular review and study; carry out special research projects; prepare information from patient medical records; assist with the preparation of departmental records and reports, including periodic lists of incomplete charts and statistics. The chosen candidate may be required to replace the person responsible for the release of information, on occasion.
Requirements:
- Health Information Management diploma from a recognized program;
- Active member of the Canadian Health Information Management Association or eligible for membership;
- Experience working in a Health Records Department considered an asset;
- Knowledge of acts and regulations applicable to release of information;
- Experience using Meditech patient documentation system an asset;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs;
- Ability to read, understand, speak and write in English and French;
- Ability to manage significant workloads and meet established deadlines with minimal supervision;
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication and presentation skills;
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology and surgical and medical procedures.
