Type: Temporary, Full-time x 3 positions

Position Scope:
Reporting to the Manager, Procurement/Operations or designate, the Buyer assists with the procurement needs in an assigned area of the commodities and/or services including planning, requisition, review, supplies selection, order placement, follow-up, complying with national and provincial Health Canada standards and following public procurement competitive bid processes. The Buyer understands that consequence of error may affect medical treatment and cause financial loss. Under the Materiel Management Services, the Buyer exhibits sound judgment and initiative while working within the framework of the objectives of the Shared District Service and the South Shore District Health Authority.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or GED required.
- Business Administration and/or Professional Materiels Management Designation and/or recent supply chain management courses.
- Two or more year's experience in a purchasing environment within a healthcare setting required.
- Experience working within a team office environment.
- Knowledge of clinical products and terminology.
- Exhibits professional oral and written communication skills within a customer service environment.
- Ability to effectively use personal computers, including word processing, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to effectively plan and organize in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position such as standing, sitting, keyboarding, telephone duties, dealing with stressful situations for time-sensitive deadlines, working flexible hours as necessary and traveling within the District/Tri-District and other areas as necessary.
- Regular attendance in current and previous employment.
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
