Russel Metals is one of the largest metals distribution and processing companies in North America.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, results oriented individual for the position of Credit Analyst in our Halifax branch, reporting to the Regional Credit Manager. You will be assigned a portfolio of accounts to manage. Your main duties will include collecting receivables, controlling order releases and negotiating arrangements. As well, you will investigate and grant credit limits up to $25,000 to $50,000, review and maintain customer files and conciliate accounts. To excel in this role, you must be a results-oriented communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has excellent analytical, organizational, team and relationship building skills, as well as good learning ability. You must count at least 2 years of credit granting and collection experience with ideally a post-secondary degree in Business and Administration. Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook is assumed. Enrolment in the F.C.I. program of the Credit Institute of Canada is an asset.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain customer relationship within assigned portfolio of accounts in support of company’s goals via corporate credit policy. 
• Ensure established unit budgets are met to create/maintain positive cash flow and protect organization asset base via risk management & collection of receivables.
• Conduct reviews of portfolio credit limits and conditions within level of authority.  Provide adequate business intelligence in support of recommendation over higher level credit lines for the Regional Credit Manager to approve.
• Apply continuous improvement to collection techniques and strategies to meet regional targets and goals.
• Promote and contribute to the success of our organization through healthy communication between the credit department and all other departments.
• Developing rapport and strengthens relationships with customers.
• Ensure that credit services are provided in a highly productive and efficient manner.
• Minimize bad debts while helping to maximize sales.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years Credit & Collections experience.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills. Ability to work under pressure and handle work volume.
• Strong analytical, time management & organizational skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office including Excel & Word. Mainframe and PC systems skills.

Preferable

• Post secondary education in the field of Finance or Business Administration.
• FCI designation or enrollment in FCI program (Credit Institute of Canada).
