Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent. A graduate of an approved Office Administration/Professional Secretarial diploma preferred. Excellent computer skills and experience in Microsoft Office Suite. Previous Long-Term Care experience an asset. Ability to work independently with confidence.

As part of an exciting new initiative within Nova Scotia, Shannex will be opening a continuing care facility in Amherst.  Northumberland Court is a state-of-the-art 36 bed continuing care facility offering home-like environments for seniors requiring nursing care and support for activities of daily living. We are seeking an experienced individual to support the start up of this facility and the ongoing maintenance operations as Administrative Coordinator (Full Time).

Reporting to the Site Manager, the successful candidate performs a variety of administrative support duties for the facility and performs public contact work in greeting, screening and routing callers and visitors.

  • Provides support for the admission of residents
  • Performs a wide variety of typing assignments, and operates the computer to enter data, edit, revise, and print minutes, letters, memos, tables, and other material. 
  • Maintains and updates resident files, and documents, including resident lists.
  • Coordinates resident transportation.
  • Performs basic accounting functions, which may involve resident banking reconciliation and payments on resident accounts.
  • Supports the facility inventory supply program, which may involve ordering, receiving and distributing supplies.
  • Monitors fire and security alarm panels, and follows safety and security duties as per facility policy.
  • Prepares photocopies and facsimiles, and sorts and distributes incoming/outgoing mail.
