Job Description:

Our client has been growing and their accounting division has an exciting Corporate Finance opportunity based in Nova Scotia, supporting our Client's headquarters. If you are an Accounting professional, who enjoys working with accounting standards, policies & special projects and are looking for an opportunity to work on an exciting new initiative, this is for you.

You will be an integral part of a group that will help lead initiatives resolving accounting policy issues. You will be responsible to ensure corporate accounting policies are prepared in accordance with Canadian GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) while assisting with the identification of any differences which may occur. You will also assist with the identification and analysis of various accounting issues, including preparation of position papers and liaising with a variety of other internal departments/regions on accounting policy interpretation issues.

The successful candidate will have the ability to manage several tasks at once and work in a deadline driven environment to anticipate issues and recommend appropriate actions. As a leader you will support organizational change through initiatives that improve function-specific processes or performance and effectively interact with external and internal personnel for exchange of information.
 
Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of accounting and/or corporate finance
• Extremely proficient in Microsoft software package
• Aptitude for understanding technology
• Knowledge of SAP or Khalix would be desirable
• 3-5 years accounting and finance experience in progressively responsible positions
• University degree and professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA, CFA) and or MBA
• Preference given to those with knowledge of the Atlantic Region business
• Prior IFRS and project management experience is an asset but not a requirement
