Being successfully in business for over 55 years, Our Client is seeking a tenured Controller to join their winning team and oversee operations for two branches of their multi-million dollar trucking company.
Job Description The Controller will act as a key member of the four person management team and recommend strategy and business making decisions. You will oversee all the financial reporting for the Company, ensuring it is consistent with accepted accounting principles and with the companies accounting and administrative policies.
Responsibilities - oversee a staff of three responsible for all accounting/dispatching/administrative reporting
- preparing all monthly financial statements
- prepare all Federal and Provincial required statements
- liaise with internal accountants and auditors
- monitor the Employee Pension and Benefits programs
- assist in labour negotiations (prepare proposals and conduct negotiations)
- assume the role of Operations Manager (in their absense) and assume all responsibilities towards staff, drivers and the business as a whole
Requirements - Strong accounting background with 3-5 years experience in a similar position
- Knowledge of Trucking Software - Maddocks Truckmate (an asset)
- Superior knowledge of Word and Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication and problem solving skills
- Strong inter-personal skills
- Experience working in unionized environment an asset
- Leadership skills mixed with management experience
Compensation and Benefits Details Our Client is offering a competitive compensation package with a salary range of $50-$60k/year, plus bonus, benefits and pension plan.
