Accounting Manager
Our client, the Canadian Cancer Society Nova Scotia Division, is seeking an experienced accountant to join its team in the key role of Accounting Manager. Based in Halifax, you will provide strong leadership in finance and accounting by providing effective management of the organization’s financial systems and controls.
Working with both staff and volunteers and reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for all areas of the Society’s financial systems and controls. This includes budgeting, planning and forecasting, cash management, reporting and analysis, audits, and risk management. Additionally, you will also support the information technology and facility management functions in the absence of those directly responsible for these areas.
As the ideal candidate, you possess or are nearing completion of a professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) or have an equivalent blend of experience and education. With a solid foundation in accounting, you also understand the principles and goals of not-for-profit organizations including the role played by volunteers. You have several years’ of progressive experience in the accounting field and are well regarded for your ability to continuously create operational efficiencies. Additionally, your outstanding interpersonal and communication skills provide you with the sensitivity and relationship building skills required to work collaboratively at all times.
