IT Support Specialist & Database Manager
Bermuda Investment Advisory Services Ltd. (BIAS) is a full service Investment Management and Advisory group with companies in Bermuda and Cayman seeking IT Support Specialist & Database Manager. This role is responsible for performing the planning, design, development and deployment of new reporting and database tools and enhancing existing reports and database reporting applications.
The successful candidate will be able to research and analyze current reporting and business data needs and then devise and implement tools to automate and streamline the processes and achieve efficiencies. This is a hands on position that requires a diverse set of technical skills as well as the ability to keep up with the ever-changing technology and end user needs.
Responsibilities and Duties include:
- Provide business analysis of data source and flow, business information requirements and data modeling.
- Design and implement reporting database applications and report automation.
- Design testing plans and perform testing for data integrity and application performance.
- Provide ongoing status reports and prepare detailed documentation of the tools and reporting procedures.
- Maintain and re-engineer current Crystal Reports, Access, Excel and all databases.
- Perform data cleansing and manipulation, working with multiple incompatible data sources.
- Monitor the performance of databases and make tuning changes.
- Responsible for the network administration using outsourcing or direct involvement where urgency requires or time permits.
- Maintain and amend Business Recovery Plan so that it fulfils current requirements.
Educational and Work Requirements include:
- University degree in the field of computer science, information science, management information science, business administration or finance with three years experience in data systems administration with at least one Microsoft Certification or a two year information technology diploma with five plus years of experience in data systems management and with at least one Microsoft Certification.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL system management and the ability to create and use complex SQL queries for data analysis.
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server, Active Directory, SQL server and Cisco Routers.
- Experience with developing database reporting tools.
- Extensive report writing skills specifically in Crystal Reports.
- Understanding of network management and support of Windows NT and Windows 2003 environment which includes LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, Hubs, CISCO Router, VPN, Network Security including the ability to configure workstations, administer Network and manage database permissions.
- An understanding of the investment industry including financial markets and securities is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to travel to offices in other jurisdictions and to work with minimal supervision meeting deadlines as necessary.
