Data Warehouse Engineer

Register.com's new Halifax office is seeking talented individuals to fill the role of Data Warehouse Engineer. This position will be responsible for creating documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key data warehouse and ETL operations. Additionally, this role entails ETL design, development, code maintenance and implementation, leveraging Informatica. Partnering with business users, the Engineer is expected to understand reporting requirements and to ensure business requirements meet expected results.  The successful candidate will review the deliverables for quality, completeness, compliance to standards and adherence to approach.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide expertise in data analysis in the areas of reporting, data warehouse, and business intelligence.
  • Strive to improve data accuracy and organization.
  • Manage request ticket queue for customer related issues.
  • Provide day to day support of data warehouse and troubleshooting of existing process and procedures.
  • Play a pivotal role in all website releases and system migrations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for Informatica.
  • Develop and maintain technical specification documentation for all reports and processes.
  • Perform performance analysis, tuning and measurement of the reporting systems.
  • Share third-level on-call support responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, Masters Degree preferred. 4+ years experience in data analysis, reporting and BI with a strong emphasis on e-commerce, data migration and/or DBA experience is required. 3-5 years of professional experience with industry standard OLAP, reporting package usage and implementation of business intelligence solutions and associated process improvements. Expertise in Oracle, RDBMS systems required. Working experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and its components SSAS 2005, SSIS 2005 and SSRS 2005 as well as strong SQL, star schema, data modeling and database skills required. A strong understanding of MOLAP, ROLAP and HOLAP implementations and experience in supporting MS SQL Server 2000 Analytical and Reporting Services and migration from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 required.
