Helpdesk Technician

The Shaw Group of companies, one of the 50 Best-Managed Companies in Canada, is one of Eastern Canada's leading natural resource manufacturers and community developers.  Our company operates on a decentralized basis through a number of divisions and subsidiaries.  Over the past decade, The Shaw Group has almost doubled its sales and number of employees.  This growth has created the need for additional IT support. Our plans are to continue to grow and diversify in the years ahead.

We are currently recruiting a Helpdesk Technician to provide technical support at our various offices.  Reporting to the IT Manager from our head office in Lantz, Nova Scotia, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Providing support to helpdesk support line and email queue
• Tracking and logging of support calls and emails
• Installing new equipment applications and upgrades
• Troubleshooting and resolving desktop issues
• Creating documentation as required and contributing to knowledge base

This position requires flexibility in hours of work and the ability to travel to the various business units periodically.

We are seeking the following qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Post secondary training in a related field
• A+ Certification or equivalent hardware experience
• Solid experience providing support and troubleshooting in a Microsoft based network environment
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with a focus on providing excellent client service
• Experience with current Microsoft products and operating systems, Citrix, and McAfee products will be strong assets.  MCSE certification would be considered an asset
