 Senior Engineer- FEA Specialist

The Finite Element Specialist is a recognized expert in the application of finite element modeling techniques relevant to ocean engineering and naval architecture. This includes linear and non-linear analysis of a wide range of structural problems encountered by ships and offshore structures including; localized stress analysis and structural failure, ultimate strength of structures, fatigue analysis, wave impacts and collisions .

The Finite Element Specialist will prepare reports for clients summarizing the results of their research and will also present the results of innovative research at conferences and in technical journals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership within a team of analysts and engineers, while carrying out work for clients using commercial and in house computer codes. For purposes of predicting the structural responses of ships and offshore structures.
  • Act as project manager for projects that have a  significant FEA component, ensuring that the projects managed are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Assist the business development function in preparing proposals for new projects in the area of FEA.
  • Prepare technical papers and presentations in order to showcase the capabilities of the company to potential clients.

 Qualifications-

  • Knowledge of ship design, marine engineering or Artic/ ice engineering
  • 5 years technical experience with FEA specialization
  • Analytical/ Problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with ISO quality systems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • M.Eng in relevant engineering discipline (Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical) is preferred
  • B.Eng. with equivalent level of practical experience will be considered
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng designation)
  • Able to obtain Canadian Government Reliability Status and Canadian Controlled goods program clearance.
  • Computer Skills-MS Office Suite, 3D CAD, MS Project
