Manager, Marketing and Communications

Position Overview:

The Manager, Marketing and Communication’s role is to plan for and create a marketing and communications plan and drive production of all marketing and communications activities required by Seafair.  The successful candidate will work with the executive team to create a Marketing Plan and then execute and control the production of plan deliverables per a budget and calendar using internal and external resources as needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing press releases
  • Managing public relations
  • Managing, directing and/or creating content for release on our websites
  • Working with our operating companies on developing and managing multiple communications campaigns
  • Coordinating the efforts of multiple content producers internally and externally
  • Creating Google Adwords campaigns to entice leads to contact us
  • Coordinating all internal communications materials
  • Working with our consultant to create and manage an ongoing content plan for Seafair’s social networks, website, and blog
  • And other duties and tasks that will come up in a young, fun, entrepreneurial organization

Skills Required:

  • Experience with Google Analytics and Google Adwords
  • Understanding of SEO tactics and technologies
  • An excellent eye for design and experience managing and controlling brand standards and voice across communications materials to maintain consistency and quality
  • Ability to create marketing plans and budgets and manage adherence to plan over time and report on progress/status
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with engaging presentation skills and the ability to succinctly and effectively respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, or peers
  • Strong sense of ownership and pride in work
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, monitor, and respond to changes quickly
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Strong decision making skills coupled with good judgment
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Motivated to achieve results in a dynamic team atmosphere
  • Proactive problem-solver and strategic thinker and doer with solid consultative skills
  • High level of emotional intelligence - the ability to read others well

  • Above average skill in and passion for using today’s social networking tools


  • Bachelor's degree or five+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Minimum of five years business experience including, but not limited to: marketing, business development, communications, public relations, copywriting, digital production, journalism, website content management, and/or social media marketing management
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with the digital and social media
  • Must be able to travel from time to time, as assigned

Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 per annum, with employer matched health, dental and disability benefits and an employer matched group RRSP.
