Accounting Technician
On-Line Support Inc.
Location: Charlottetown

Purpose:

The Accounting Technician is primarily responsible for the Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable functions in the Finance Department This key member of the corporate Finance/Payroll team provides services to our Corporate and Site operations and support to other team members.

Reports to:

This position reports to the Controller.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and issue revenue invoices, accounts receivable statements, and other financial reports using computerized and manual systems
  • Set-up new vendors and customers
  • Code source documents with general ledger codes and enter into the sub-ledger
  • Respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations, and solve problems
  • Initiate accounts receivable collection correspondences
  • Verify vendor account statements
  • Post bank transactions such as lease and insurance payments
  • Maintain maintenance/other vendor agreement files
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and photocopying
  • Back-up to the other Accounting Technician – including sales tax remittance (federal and provincial), processing various employee benefits and other expense claims, processing cash receipts and issuing of cheques and bank transfers, update daily cash/bank reconciliations
  • Other duties to be assigned by Finance Management

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years work experience performing similar duties
  • Diploma/Degree in Accounting /Business Administration and/or Office Administration combined with prior work experience
  • Working knowledge of Great Plains Accounting Software a definite asset
  • Proficient in MS Office Word and Excel
  • Experienced dealing with multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Able to prioritize and be detail oriented
  • Works well under pressure and meets deadlines set forth
  • A team player able to work across departmental lines with minimal supervision
  • Dependable, flexible, and has a positive attitude
  • Treat information as classified and highly confidential
