We are currently seeking applications from people interested in joining the engineering team for the design and construction of a new plant in Miramichi. This state-of-the-art processing plant will create polysilicon from quartz, which is used in the manufacturing of solar panels and computer chips. The design phase will begin immediately, with operation expected in 2012. It is intended that this position will transition to an operations function once the plant is fully commissioned.
Job Description:
Representing the owner, this individual will work with the primary engineering firm’s office during the project phase. The Process Engineer will normally be assigned design responsibilities for some portion of the project. In this role, the individual would provide technical input to the EPC design engineers and participate in design reviews for their area of the process. The process engineer will also provide technical input to the construction team during the construction phase and will participate in training, commissioning, and start-up activities. Post project activities will include operational oversight of a portion of the process, initiation of process improvements, minor capital projects and safety management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Applies standard practices, techniques, and procedures in specific situations carrying out a sequence of related technical tasks.
- Develop design solutions and make technical recommendations to design team.
- Provide technical review and approval of technical design documents.
- Participate in technical review meetings.
- Participate and/or lead safety reviews, and administrative functions required to support these activities.
- Provide technical support to construction group as issues arise in the field.
- Participates and/or leads the commissioning of new equipment, including writing procedures and training.
- May be asked to lead small capital projects.
Qualifications:
- Able to organize and effectively manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be detail oriented.
- Must be able to write reports, procedure manuals, and make effective presentations.
- Able to travel as required for existing expansions and future expansion projects.
- Minimum 7 years experience in an industrial chemicals production environment.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university, and able to apply for certification with APEGNB.
