Master Control Operator
Rogers TV is looking for a part-time Master Control Operator for its Grand Falls-Windsor Station. The position would involve working approximately 6 hours per week during RTV's regular 40 week programming season (September - June). Hours during the remaining 12 weeks of the year would vary depending on playback schedule. The successful applicant will work within a team environment of staff and volunteers. The successful candidate will be involved in playing back videotapes, creating program dubs for distribution to other Newfoundland RTV stations, ensuring accuracy of program logs, generation of programming reports and the inputting of programming data into the Broadview computerized reporting system. The Master Control Operator is also accountable for on-air quality control/monitoring.
Responsibilities Include:
- To complete playback of Rogers TV programs ensuring programs are within technical parameters and follow the CRTC logs.
- To input all local community messages on community bulletin board ensuring that messages are current, free of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors and also within the guidelines for community event announcements.
- To program and manage station break scheduling and automation tasks using Broadview software and other programs ensuring that all breaks fall within established corporate and local station guidelines.
- Respond to scheduling changes promptly and advise appropriate personnel in a timely manner of any scheduled changes. Update program log using Broadview software during each playback shift to reflect accurate program scheduling.
- Ensure video logger tapes of all on-air programming are completed and maintained as per CRTC regulations.
- Generate daily, weekly, monthly and annual programming reports as assigned. Liaise with staff in four RTV locations in Newfoundland as required to gather programming information statistics for monthly reports and enter information into the Broadview computerized reporting system.
- Work with Station Manager to report faults and ensure that integrity of master control facility is maintained.
- Complete programming dubs as requested and distribute to appropriate Stations.
- Other related duties as assigned by Station Manager.
- Adhere to all applicable health and safety regulations, both legislatively mandated and as outlined in company policy.
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:

- Ability to work to exacting standards and able to handle stress related to program switching and feeds is required.
- Community college level training in a technical area such as Television Production, Electronics, or Data Entry would be an asset.
- Ability to monitor feeds and tape machine outputs for technical quality using waveform and vectorscope monitors and VU meters.
- Knowledge of various video tape formats and audio transmission equipment.
- Highly proficient computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, database entry.
