Survey Design Specialist – Make a Difference in Improving School Climates

Do you have a passion for quantitative survey design and statistical analysis? Would you like to use this passion to create statistically valid internet-based student and teacher surveys that help to improve learning environments?  Do you prefer working in a stimulating work environment where you have the opportunity to provide your input and ideas and truly make a difference?

If so, this position will be of interest to you.

The Company:

The Learning Bar (http://www.thelearningbar.com) was co-founded by Dr. J. Douglas Willms, Director of the Canadian Research Institute for Social Policy at the University of New Brunswick, and Patrick Flanagan, partner and senior associate with Kathleen Howard & Associates Inc. We specialize in the development of web-based educational surveys designed to assess student engagement, student wellness and school learning climates.

Our flagship product, Tell Them From Me (TTFM) provides principals and school administrators with continuous, useable, on-line feedback indicating progress on school climate and schooling outcomes.  Students complete the survey regularly over the course of the school year, enabling teachers and administrators to assess whether school reforms and interventions are having their intended effect.

The Opportunity:

In this exciting and challenging opportunity, you will play a key role in developing and analyzing customized educational surveys for school districts throughout North America.  You will also adapt existing surveys into the TTFM framework.  You will assist with analysis and interpretation of quantitative survey data and present the results in professionally written reports.

The Requirements:

As our ideal candidate, you have an exceptionally strong background in quantitative survey methods and design. You have a proven track record of designing statistically valid surveys as well as analyzing and interpreting results in easy to understand reports. Strong writing skills are essential; basic skills in statistical analysis (e.g., simple analyses with SPSS) would be an asset. You have a degree in education, sociology or business with course work and experience in survey design and analysis.

The Rewards:

We are committed to providing our employees with a good home/work life balance. We have a flexible, collaborative team environment with a group of dedicated and talented individuals committed to the success of our product.  In return for your experience and expertise, you will receive a good salary, and will be eligible for the company benefits package.  You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that the work you are doing contributes to improving student engagement, student wellness and school learning climates.

The Location:

Our offices are located in downtown Fredericton, a small, beautiful, historic city with two universities, many cultural activities (including an excellent jazz and blues festival), and plenty of recreational facilities and activities, beautiful parks and an extensive network of walking trails. Fredericton is well recognized for its exceptional quality of life.  It also has a vibrant and rapidly expanding knowledge industry sector.
