HR Generalist
You will manage various human resources functions focusing on recruitment and retention, policies and procedures, and training and organizational development for all Canadian operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruitment activities - posting jobs (internet and print mediums), screening resumes, telephone and in-person interviews, reference checks, offer of employment, represent the company at college career fairs, etc.
- Conduct company orientations with new hires
- Performance management - coordinate the performance review process as well as work with department managers daily to ensure the high performance of all employees
- Act as liaison with the company's immigration lawyers to process work visas/ employment sponsorship program
- Benefits administration – Assist in the enrollment & presentations of our groups benefits plan - enrolments, employee changes, terminations, and handle benefits inquiries from staff
- Plan, arrange and deliver Employee engagement/appreciation Programs and Events
- Conduct exit interviews with departing employees, and quarterly reporting to Management board
- Provide human resources and legislative advice to both managers and employees where applicable
- Coordinate the company's Finders Fee program
- HR correspondence - prepare offer letters for department managers, general correspondence, confirmations of employment, salary adjustment letters, promotion letters, etc.
- HR analysis and reports - turnover, headcounts, exit interviews, etc.
- Assist Training Committee to enhance training practices and procedures
- Partner with local agencies and community groups to increase awareness of the Company in the local labour market
- Must be familiar with appropriate labour standards and human rights legislation as they apply to the recruitment process
- May conduct training to instruct establishment managers, supervisors, and workers in human relations skills, such as supervisory skills, conflict resolution skills, interpersonal communication skills, HR policies and procedures and effective group interaction skills
- Review performance appraisals and approve salary increases that are within defined guidelines
- Productions of reports (adhoc/monthly) to support the analysis of workforce and other HR related activities
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the company and performance of other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Your post-secondary education in HR management is supported by three to five years’ relevant experience.
- Your solid recruitment and selection experience is complemented by your knowledge of the current labour market and government regulations.
- Highly organized and self-directed, you have exceptional communication skills and experience in the preparation and delivery of comprehensive presentations.
- Proficiency with MS Office is required.
- Must have a minimum of five to seven years working experience as a Human Resources Generalist with a focus on recruitment, performance and legislative compliance.
- Must be comfortable working independently; this is currently the sole human resources position in the organization.
- Familiar with applicable provincial legislation required.
- Team player with initiative, excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
- Proven commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and able to meet deadlines.
