Job Summary:
The nurse practitioner will provide primary health care services to clients by promoting health, disease prevention, healing, rehabilitation, and by providing support. The incumbent will also be required to conduct in-depth health assessments, make a diagnosis, communicate the diagnosis to the client, and recommend or prescribe the appropriate treatment program. He or she will also be responsible for the management of stable chronic diseases, prescribing certain types of medication, and ordering diagnostic tests. In addition, the nurse practitioner will participate in the planning, organizing, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care, in accordance with the philosophy, objectives and policies of the ACADIE-BATHUST Health Authority. The successful candidate will assume all of these responsibilities within the practice of nurse practitioners as primary care nursing providers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
- Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner post-graduate program;
- Registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick mandatory;
- Ability to work independently;
- Experience in emergency care considered an asset;
- Five years clinical nursing experience;
- Ability to function efficiently within an interdisciplinary team;
- Skill as a change facilitator;
- Successful completion of an arrhythmia course or equivalent (must be a minimum one-week course) required;
- Successful completion of ACLS course within one-year set timeframe;
- Ability to work in both official languages (English and French);
- Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge, critical thinking, and critical judgment;
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage stressful situations;
- Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, public, co-workers, public health officials, and medical staff;
- Work in other facilities may be required;
- Continuous upgrading of advanced clinical skills required.
