Project Controllers are external client service professionals specializing in project and account operations with a key focus on financial management.  Working with our project teams, you'll be a key player in the Project Management Office in supporting large-scale projects or programs.
 
As a Project Controller, you will have the following responsibilities:
 
Project Financial Management
The role if largely focused on Project Financial Management and requires experience and skills in the area of financial reporting and analysis.  Key activities include:
  • Review contracts and understand significant financial terms and conditions, maintain copies of all contracts and execute accordingly
  • Assist with budget and pricing tool creation
  • Create project financial tracking tools to reconcile actuals and forecast against budget and analyze any variances. 
  • Ensure project financial tracking tool reconciles with internal accounting reports and accurately tracks key financial performance indicators
  • Prepare accurate and up to-date financial summary reports for review with Project Leadership
  • Create client invoicing and supporting documentation in accordance with the contract terms
  • Monitor and report to management on outstanding Accounts Receivables
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of all work, and ensure project operates in compliance with firm policies.
  • Conduct analysis of billing
  • Prepare invoices to client
  • Reconcile Canadian and US accounting systems
  • Assist with revenue collections
  • Process period end duties (ie. Clearing WIP, tracking margins/losses).
  • Responsible for ad hoc reporting to management
  • Assist with revenue collection
 Project Management Support
Depending on the engagement, the Project Controller may also be required to take on a broader Project Management Office Support Role.  Key activities could include:
  • Create and Maintain project eroom or document repository
  • Create and maintain Project team lists (ie. v/email distributions lists, contact list, vacation schedule)
  • Schedule regular project team meetings
  • Assist Project Manager to organize and communicate team-building activities
  • Create and maintain Onboard/Off boarding procedures and orientation manual
  • Work with Project Manager to develop project Status and Issue Log templates
  • Assist with the preparation of weekly or biweekly project status reporting
  • Establish document control procedures
  • Ensure deliverable sign off is obtained and properly archive all Key Project deliverables.
  • Work with Project Manager to develop Scope Change Management process and templates
  • Ensure signed Scope Change Requests are documented and properly filed Works closely with Partner / Project Manager to ensure Quality and Risk Management processes and procedures are adhered to.
  • Procurement management, track vendors and subcontractors contracts and serve as contact for internal and external resource providers
  • Maintain project workplan and customize project planning tools to fit needs of engagement as well as creating project plan in collaboration with project team
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience (financial background and project management support experience)
  • University degree in a business field required
  • Experience in a financial analysis role.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Software Skills: Advanced Excel, Outlook, MS Project, Word, Powerpoint
  • Ability to work in an unstructured environment and deliver significant value
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English.
  • Ability to travel within Canada and the U.S.
