Our client is a leading international mining group, and their business is finding, mining, and processing mineral resources. Major products are aluminum, copper, diamonds, energy (coal and uranium), gold, industrial minerals (borax, titanium dioxide, salt, talc) and iron ore. Activities span the world but are strongly represented in Australia and North America with significant businesses in South America, Asia, Europe and southern Africa.
Our client is the largest manufacturer of iron ore pellets in Canada and its customer base covers North American, European and Asian steel producers. Our client operates a mine, concentrator and a pelletizing plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities located in Sept-Īles (Quebec). Our client also operates a 418 kilometer railroad that links the mine to the port. Our client has approximately 1900 employees and has activities in more than 40 countries throughout the world.
Reporting to the Team Leader the Power Engineer is responsible to for the safe and efficient operation of a steam plant, a high temperature hot water heating plant and an air compressor plant in support of making high quality iron ore pellets and concentrate.
The ideal candidate must possess a Newfoundland or equivalent 2nd or 3rd class ticket and must exhibit strengths in customer service, communication, self-leadership, team work and adaptability. The ideal candidate is a highly self-motivated individual who works towards continuously improving the safety, cost, quality, production, and performance of operation.
