METOCEAN Data Systems, has been developing and manufacturing state-of-the-art data acquisition and telemetry systems for customers worldwide for over 25 years.

METOCEAN Data Systems recent expansion into new markets with a new array of products and services has created the need for a Senior Mechanical Engineer, who will possess the following:

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Qualifications:

• A formal education in Mechanical Engineering with a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution is required.
• Minimum of 7 years practical experience in mechanical system design and development.  A proven history in this area is mandatory.
• The ideal candidate would have competence in design for metrological / oceanographic / military applications. Prior experience with metal forming and injection molding applications would be beneficial.
• Assisting in the development of written technical proposals and specifications.
• Experience with Pro Engineer modeling software would be beneficial
• Able to lead a team in a design engineering oriented environment.
• The selected candidate will have to be able to qualify for Canadian security clearance. Existing Canadian security clearance would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical designer: design, implementation and testing of electromechanical systems for use in marine or polar applications
• Product development including packaging of low power electronics and satellite telemetry modules for severe environments
• Technical advisor and mentoring of junior staff within a team of engineers and technologists.
• Product support within the production facility
• Offsite testing and customer interface
