Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, 4 South, the Staff Nurse is responsible and accountable for the application of current theory and the nursing process in the delivery of family centred patient care consistent with the philosophy, objectives, vision and mission of the IWK Health Centre. The Staff Nurse will provide care for children, adolescents and their families with acute mental illness as an integral part of the 4 South inter-professional team.

Shifts: 11.25 hour shifts, full rotational schedule (Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends)

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing required.(candidates with commensurate experience and education will be considered)
• Registered, or eligible to be registered, with CRNNS required.
• Current BCLS certification required
• Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification an asset.
• Previous psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CNA Certification in Mental Health Nursing an asset.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Family Centred Care required.
• Demonstrated time management, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills required.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with families and other health care team members.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and skills.
• Demonstrated flexibility with proven, excellent organizational skills.
• Competency in other languages considered an asset; French preferred.
