Programmer Analyst
CKF Inc. has four manufacturing facilities located across Canada with a total workforce in excess of 700 employees. Our operations produce molded pulp products including disposable tableware, egg cartons, four-cup carriers, display containers, and a wide variety of other products.
We have an exciting opportunity available at our Hantsport, NS location for a Programmer Analyst with 5-10 years experience working within an ERP environment. This is a full time job working with a dynamic team which provides information services to all our locations in Canada.
Working closely with the other IS team members, this position will have responsibility for the following activities:
- Providing application systems analysis, design, development/programming and testing activities
- Developing feasibility studies, time and cost estimates for the implementation of new and revised application systems and programs
- Maintaining existing software packages through direct code changes and installation of code fixes and maintenance releases
- Ensuring that application security procedures are implemented and enforced
- Preparing activity and progress reports regarding the activities of the application system analysis and programming section
- Providing operating systems analysis and programming activities such as file maintenance routines, computer operations and data security
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of all database transactions
The preferred qualifications and experience are as follows:
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field
- 5+ years experience as a programmer analyst
- A working knowledge of Windows 2003 Servers, Novel and Citrix
- Experience with Oracle 10g database on a RAC environment
- Working technical knowledge of 4th generation programming languages
- Working knowledge of ERP and Financial Reporting systems
- Experience with data manipulation and analysis/verification of data blocks
i.e. requires excellent skills in the use of Excel/Access and Programming to assist in the manipulation, verification of downloaded files for subsequent uploading back into our ERP system. This expertise is required for assisting our Finance Team with the yearly budgeting and forecasting processes. Attention to detail is very important. - Excellent problem solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve project issues and challenges
- Comfortable working on various projects simultaneously while still providing support to users
- Good communication skills and the ability to build solid relationships with the IS team as well as with a variety of other positions within the Company
- Flexibility to work varying amounts of overtime and to travel as required
