Shipping Supervisor

Our Port Hawkesbury Mill produces 190,000 mt/y of newsprint and 360,000 mt/y of supercalendered (SC) paper at its Point Tupper location in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

The SC paper machine is one of the fastest and most modern in the world. The newsprint machine produces high quality standard and improved newsprint. Machine furnish is supplied from our modern, three-line thermomechanical pulp facility.

Reporting to the Mill OM Manager, the Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the overall Shipping/Warehousing functions of the mill. Leading the Shipping Team, the Shipping Supervisor must maintain the highest standards of safety, cleanliness and order within the warehouse operation. This individual will foster a customer focused organization, while supporting timely and accurate order fulfillment without compromising quality. This position is also responsible for maintaining a high level of inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and maintaining continuous improvement in logistics and technology. The ability to maintain relationships with suppliers, contractors, government regulatory departments, NewPage mills and other paper mills is required.

The ideal candidate will possess a four year post-secondary degree and 3-5 years of progressive experience in a leadership role, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Previous warehousing and/or logistics experience is required. Previous supervisory experience is considered an asset. Experience in a papermaking or manufacturing environment is preferred.

Candidates must be capable of performing in a fast-paced, highly technical and flexible work environment and possess outstanding organizational and communication skills. Strong team-building and interpersonal skills are a requirement for this position. Proficient computer skills, preferably including knowledge of SAP, and strong problem solving abilities are an asset.
