Expeditor (UT), Local 28
Halifax Shipyard is a Division of Irving Shipbuilding Inc. which specializes in new ship construction, ship repair, ship conversion and vessel refits. We are currently recruiting for a highly motivated and self directed individual to work with a team of buyers in the acquisition of goods and services for our various internal divisions with a focus on cost savings and adding value for our customers. This position would be included in the CAW Local 28 Bargaining Unit.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Daily Purchase Order Tracking of: Goods, Certifications and Manuals to Ensure they Arrive when Promised
- Closing Out of Outstanding Purchase Orders on Completed Projects
- Liaise with Internal Customers and Suppliers re: Day-to-Day Delivery Issues
- Weekly Meetings with Contract Managers to Review Open Service Purchase Order's
- Develop, Maintain and Communicate Results of Expediting Statistics
- Provision of Exceptional Customer Service to our Internal Divisions
Knowledge, Skills and Educational Requirements:
- The successful candidate must have excellent communication and problem solving skills and enjoy working in a fast paced, team environment where they will be expected to work within a team where decision making skills are crucial to project completion.
- Post Secondary Education completion is an asset, but not a requirement.
- The successful candidate must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
- The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, motivated and customer focused with an analytical and logical thought process.
- The successful candidate must act as a business innovator, be technologically inclined and committed to their own professional development.
