Permanent position 8-5, Monday to Friday
Barrett Lumber is looking to expand its' accounting department to include the newly created position of Accounting Clerk.
Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Clerk will be responsible for both; accounts payable and receivables. The applicant must have proficient knowledge of accounting and office administration, preferably with experience in accounts payable and receivables, supported by the appropriate educational background and related experience. The applicant must demonstrate effective verbal communication skills, and computer skills including spreadsheets and word processing programs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- taking incoming calls and distribution of mail
- matching PO to invoices and getting internal authorization
- coding and batching invoices for payment
- entering data into the system for vendors and other information pertaining to accounts
- verifying invoices
- preparing journal entries
- reconciliation of vendor accounts
- preparing cheques for signature, matching, mailing and filing
- vendor enquires and investigation of discrepancies
- posting cash receipts and customer payments
- assisting with cash management related tasks
- supporting the other divisions, within the company, where required
- additional duties and projects as assigned by the Controller
