Based in Oromocto, NB, District 17 consists of 18 schools, serving approximately 5,200 students. Located in the picturesque heart of New Brunswick, along the Saint John River and Grand Lake, School District 17 encompasses Oromocto, Canadian Forces Base Gagetown, Chipman, Cambridge Narrows, Coles Island, Fredericton Junction, Gagetown and Minto.
As a member of the district administrative team, consisting of the Superintendent, Director of Finance & Administration and the Director of Human Resources, you will be responsible for the quality and effectiveness of the educational programs and services in District 17.
Reporting to the Superintendent, responsibilities may include:
- Working on a member of a team to plan, develop, implement and evaluate district educational programs, plans and services;
- Ensuring effective curriculum delivery at all levels including, but not limited to, new curriculum implementation, professional development and assessment outcomes;
- Coordination of the teacher staffing complement for district schools and professional development;
- Ensuring compliance with applicable acts, regulations, policies and guidelines;
- Co-Administration of the NB Teachers’ Collective Agreement;
- Coordination of school improvement planning;
Key qualifications will include:
- Demonstrated quality educational leadership;
- A strong curriculum focus, with some experience at all levels;
- Knowledge of district staffing process and procedures;
- Superior communicative and interpersonal skills including being a member of an administrative team;
- Ability to participate as a member of various teams;
- Ability to fulfill related administrative responsibilities;
- Focus on continual improvement of the teaching/learning process.
In addition to having the qualifications, skills and abilities required for the duties mentioned above, applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Education, at least five (5) years teaching experience, and at least five (5) years experience in an administrative position in education. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Written and spoken competence in English is essential.
