We are currently looking for a Graphic Designer for our office located in Saint-John, New Brunswick. The candidate in this role will be responsible for creating and designing ads according to customers' specifications and needs using computer and ensuring elements of graphic art comply with established norms and standards. He/she will adhere to departmental procedures and objectives and other clerical duties as required.
Main Responsabilities:
Ad Production
- Reviews/evaluates requirements of requests and questions/clarifies issues as required.
- Interpret / edit information provided on Ad Requests (Layout, Sold and/or Spec).
- Ensure Sales submissions meet specifications.
- Interact with Sales / Customers.
- Conceptualize ad direction.
- Accurately decipher ad layout instructions
- Input and format ad copy.
- Produces all elements of graphic art using computer & board art, ensuring compliance with graphic/quality norms and corporate standards, identifies new elements of graphic art to be scanned for existing ads.
- Conceptualizes or develops sketch components of advertisements.
- Verify accuracy of supplies text.
- Designs in-house projects (flyers, logos, local marketing material, local newsletters etc.)
- Ability to color corrects and manipulates raster images.
- Create or edit vector artwork.
Prepares and Scans All Artwork
- Verifies artwork requirements and obtains existing artwork (e.g. Logos)
- Verifies quality of scan/reproduction and performs touch-ups using computer as required.
- Responsible for use of type and choosing fonts.
- Loads and saves elements of graphic art on computer according to established procedures.
Other Responsibilities
- Prepares daily activity report on time spent other than in production.
- Keep accurate records of work hours.
Qualifications:
- Professional/Vocational Diploma or Certificate
- Between 1 - 2 years of experience in Graphic Design
- Experience in Web Site creation would be an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
- Bilingual (english and french)
