The Department of Justice and Consumer Affairs, Court Services Division, is recruiting for a full-time family court Social Worker position in Campbellton, New Brunswick.

Duties: The successful individual will be a member of a unit responsible for providing a variety of services to clients arising out of separation, divorce or parenting issues. These include counselling, information, mediation and referral services.  The successful candidate will be expected to provide information and orientation about separation and divorce, custody of and access to children, roles of parents after separation, child support and spousal maintenance, division of marital property, family violence issues and other related matters. Duties and competencies will also include the assessment of clients for various appropriate services provided under the Domestic Legal Aid program. These include mediation and the preparation of appropriate documents in support of agreements reached by clients, and referrals to the New Brunswick Legal Aid Services Commission for the services of a Domestic Legal Aid Family Solicitor. Administrative responsibilities include maintaining properly documented client records, statistics and other related work. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications:  Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Social Work. The successful candidate should have a sound knowledge of social work theory and mediation practice, including family violence training, as well as adequate familiarity with Family Court and related services. All candidates must be practicing (or eligible to be) members in good standing of the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers. The successful applicant must possess computer skills including training or experience in MS Word and Outlook.  Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.

Remuneration: from $ 1,518 to $ 2,304 bi-weekly, depending on education and experience.
