Overall Objective and Purpose:
Applies a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach for modifications of existing applications, simple changes, reports and request for software services with minimal supervision from more senior software engineers.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design of software with clearly defined functional requirements with the help of more senior software engineers.
- Participates in the design of test cases for software module changes.
- Participates in group design discussions and expected to understand basic software design but should not be expected to provide concrete input to these decisions.
- Limited to change or creation of isolated modules that are completely designed with some supervision from more senior software engineer.
- Requires only minor supervision from more senior software engineers to troubleshoot and make repairs on isolated modules. All changes must be reviewed by senior software engineer prior to submission.
- Basic Proficiency in Software Development, Software Design, Software Testing, Software Maintenance, Software Configuration Mgt. Software Engineering Tools and Software Quality.
Education:
- Minimum education
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent.
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent.

- No practical industry experience but should have had experience in collegiate software projects.

- Essential special training requirements
- Technology:
- J2EE, Web-based applications
- Unix/Linux
- RDBMS (any relational database is good. db2 experience is a plus)
- Programs:
- Experience with Eclipse is a plus
- Experience with CVS source code control is a plus
- Software Languages:
- Java
- Any other languages like PERL/python/bash are all a plus
- Any experience with XML/XLS is a plus
