Registered Nurse – Regular Part-Time - Repost

Position Summary:

Working under the direction of the Clinic Services Coordinator, the successful incumbent (s) will be responsible for performing collection procedures, providing assessments, information and care to individuals donating whole blood. All tasks are performed in accordance with regulatory requirements and Canadian Blood Services policies, procedures and practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs donor health screening to determine donor eligibility.
  • Performs phlebotomy for whole blood and apheresis, as required.
  • Responds to donor/volunteer/staff for incidents/adverse reactions including assessing and evaluating conditions, determining level of care to be delivered and follow-up.
  • Assists with the setting up/dismantling of collection equipment and supplies.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures documentation is complete and accurate.
  • May perform specialized procedures for apheresis and specialty programs.
  • Delivers customer service excellence.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick.
  • Two years previous nursing experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a blood collection environment is an asset.
  • Previous venepuncture or apheresis experience would be an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Fluency in both French and English as well as strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Occasional travel within New Brunswick  will be a requirement.
