Overall Objective and Purpose: This position is responsible for designing, developing and testing firmware to run on GTECH's terminals and peripherals. To research, conceptualize and develop new or complex technologies and their applications. To be involved with project definition and implementation at the process level. To act as a technical resource to projects, to lead firmware design and research efforts and mentor Firmware Engineer Consultants. Independently applies a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the development, operation and maintenance of firmware with the ability to lead other engineers.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read and evaluate RFP's and Proposals
- Research, define, present, and recommend firmware designs and/or alternative strategies
- Develops, maintains and upgrades existing firmware to incorporate new features and equipment for existing and new products
- Documents changes to new and proposed firmware
- Contributor to architectural designs
- Evaluates and resolves field problems concerning firmware elements of lottery equipment
- Lead team in determining customer requirements and assists team in providing customer solutions
- Effectively interfaces with other departments of the company and acts as a liaison or contact point on both technical and non-technical matters
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Experience with Linux 2.6, peripheral device driver, C and Java
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science or the equivalent
- 8 years of related experience
