Guidance Counsellor Labrador West Campus Temporary until August 28, 2009

Duties: Provide guidance and counseling services including individual, career, and group counseling. Assist with student affairs including student council, recreation programs, yearbooks, winter carnival, student aid and other student activities; liaise and work with staff and administration on behalf of students through committees and on an individual basis; administer and interpret standardized tests associated with individual career and group counseling; deliver student support courses such as job search training, study skills and related activities.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of and experience with assessment instruments as well as be knowledgeable of both adult education theory and practice. Well developed communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective work relations are essential to the position. The required knowledge and skills would normally be acquired through the completion of a Master’s degree in Education with a major in Educational Psychology and/or Counselling with relevant work experience.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with the College of the North Atlantic Faculty Collective Agreement, plus applicable Labrador Allowance.
