Position: Technical Lead
Location: St. John’s NL
Term: 4 Months
Technical resource with 5-7 years experience relating to the management of an enterprise desktop environment. Must have extensive experience with documenting process and procedures,
MS Windows XP Professional in an Active Directory environment, Business application support with MS Office Pro and MS Visio, Team player, good knowledge of industry standard hardware and software, ability to take ownership of issues and bring them to resolution.
Knowledge of Landesk and TRIM would be an asset. Experience with ITIL best practices
You will provide technical leadership in an all encompassing role, with a minimal amount of supervision. Work closely with the Operations Management team and lead a team of Computer Support Specialists to obtain the required goals.
The Operations Management Team have 3 goals to achieve, time and budget permitting.
They include: - Imaging & Software Repository, Physical Media & Software Lifecycle Management, Technical Documentation Review.
Responsibilities: Imaging & Software Repository:
- Oversee the creation of a standardized desktop image and the development of a deployment strategy.
- The imaging technology used is Landesk. This initiative will bring together all images to one central location.
- Review the existing software management and deployment mechanisms currently in place and propose recommendations and solutions for a central software repository and mechanism for deployment.
- Physical Media & Software Lifecycle Management:
Coordinate the setup of a physical media centre in the client's ISC (Information Services Centre). Confirmation of metadata to be recorded in TRIM.
Possible creation of metadata records.
- Review existing procurement process and provide recommendations on improvement. Develop a process of software life cycle management (procurement, recording, storage of physical and electronic media, paper and electronic license keys). Develop a process for the reassignment of software when employees/contractors exit .
- Technical Documentation Review:
Inventory of all current existing locations for technical documentation. Recommendation on how to consolidate and appropriate means of delivery.
Additional Information:
Hours of work yet to be defined but could be a 3-4 day work week. Flexibility to change work schedule. Work may be put on hold for a 1-2 week timeframe during the Christmas holidays.
